Welcome to the “Lighthouse Logbook” Blog
Setting the Stage
Imagine being pummeled by high winds, tossed by choppy waters, and blinded by ink-black skies—only to see a single, steady beam of light piercing through the dark.
Historically, lighthouse keepers lived a solitary life ignited by a great purpose. They climbed treacherous catwalks, kept the searchlight burning, and offered direction, hope, and support in dire circumstances. Their logbooks recorded it all: the mundane, repetitive days interrupted by sudden shots of adrenaline.
Today, those physical lighthouses are relics of a bygone era.
But what they stood for is more powerful than ever.
Why a Logbook?
This space is my modern logbook. I have always loved the quiet consistency of a journal—recording all events, whether they are explosive or ordinary. Like those keepers of the past, I love the idea of shining a light for others in the darkness. Not as a certified first responder, but as a fellow traveler trying to make it safely ashore.
Sometimes we honor others by telling their story. Other times, we honor ourselves by doing the very same thing.
The Lighthouse Logbook is a collection of vignettes, ideas, and explorations. It’s a space where we can watch the drama of life play out against the night sky, and use the light to find our way home. My flashlight is ever ready.
